proSiron – Heavy-Duty Cartridge Mechanical Seal (Double Acting)
The proSiron belongs to the Siron family of mechanical seals and is purpose-built for high-demand process environments where performance and compliance are critical. Designed with stationary seal face technology, the proSiron achieves higher sliding speeds and superior thermal stability, making it ideal for advanced API sealing systems.
This seal is not only available in both single and double-acting configurations, but also supports API sealing plans including:
API 21, 22, 23, 31, 52, 53A/B, and 54 — with compatibility for ANSI and ANSI+ Big Bore pump standards.

Understanding API 682 – The Global Standard for Mechanical Seal Design
API 682 is the internationally recognized standard for mechanical seals used in the petrochemical, chemical, and pipeline industries. It was developed to address the growing need for standardized, reliable, and application-specific sealing solutions — especially in high-risk environments where equipment uptime and emission control are critical.
Prior to API 682, existing standards such as API 610, ANSI B73, and DIN 24960 primarily focused on pump construction, often treating the mechanical seal as a secondary component. API 682 shifted that perspective by placing the mechanical seal at the core of equipment reliability and safety — defining not just dimensions, but also materials, seal arrangements, environmental controls (API Plans), and performance testing requirements.
This standard was driven by a consortium of industry leaders — including major oil producers, seal manufacturers, and pump OEMs — with the goal of establishing a clear, consistent framework for selecting, designing, and testing mechanical seals across critical process industries.
